Special Time Specail Thing

August 7, 2009 by rmflash

What are you doing at 12:34:56 August 7, 2009? Do you know what the time mean?

I got a SMS about the time, and was confused. She said that 12:34:56 7/8/9 is a special period for a life and the numbers come to 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. Generally, 12:34:56 August 7, 2009 is 12:34:56 8/7/9. But if you keep a look at the British expression, you will find 12:34:56 7/8/9 as 12:34:56 August 7, 2009.

On August 7, 2009, Moyea PlayerBox was released with full version. I got to the official site: http://www.player-box.com to have a look. There is an update, and information is added. More guides and demo were added. If you just start using web player, Moyea PlayerBox is a good choice as it offers drag and drop edit box, and the entire process of creating web flv player could be done within the simple program UI.

The program offers functions to custom skin with skin gallery, which facilitates the player personalization. Below is a picture after customization.

Play FLV on Web Page

August 6, 2009 by rmflash

Do you have any idea about playing FLV on web page? There is no need worrying about the process to be complicated. Indeed, it would only take you a few minutes with fast demonstration. Here is the text description about how to quickly get your web page ready with the FLV videos.

You shall have the video file into a popular web format, i.e. flash video (flv), before you begin embedding video to a web page. Flash video format is popular for internet entertainment because it is small in size and with 98% machines installed with Flash player. The FLV format also enables you to compress your initial movie with high quality, as the video codecs could be On2 VP6, H.264 (state-of-the-art codec) and Sorenson H.263.

This distinctive video format also allows you to display digital movie in streaming mode. That means there is not a long time of delay before the playing of FLV when your visitors click on the play button, as long as they are connected with network. Playing FLV on web page could be under two protocols: HTTP and RTMP. RTMP is a much professional protocol developed by Adobe. RTMP requires unique web server. We generally use HTTP, as it is common. Visitors no longer need to download or install Flash player when it is already on the machine.

However, FLV file could not be directly embedded on web page. A web player is needed to play FLV, so that the FLV file would play on web page. The web play is in SWF format. It is the format recognized by Flash player, so that FLV video could be displayed. The web-video player will connect FLV on web server and play FLV video.

Now that you understand this simple procedure, the simple way to get started is – transform your original video into FLV format, get a web-video player to play the FLV on web page, and embed video on web page with HTML code.

To get your custom FLV player, it is easy with only drags and drops. No special knowledge is required, no actionscript is necessary to build a fancy player.

Then you can show Flash video online with web player, and offer download link for MP4 video to watch on local machine.

The output of video conversion would be in .flv format, but this special kind of video could play on QuickTime even the file extension is changed to .mp4. F4V video could also be in .f4v extension, depending on your needs.

Get Your Video Ready to Share with Easy Format

July 26, 2009 by rmflash

While you provide videos on website, it would be better that there is link to download the video. You can of course add watermark on your original video, and make it easy for visitors with low bandwidth or for playback on portable devices.

If you get video by capturing with digital camera, you will in MPEG format, DVD, CD, or others. It is recommended that you get them into MP4 with H.264. For online Flash video, you can also use H.264 for FLV, however, it is not favorable for visitors who use old machine or low bandwidth. Let’s see the differences between using H.263 and H.264 from Adobe.

Sorenson Spark H.263

Introduced in Flash Player 6, the Sorenson Spark video codec can be used to publish Flash documents requiring backwards compatibility to Flash Player 6 and 7. If you anticipate a large user base that uses older computers, use FLV files encoded with the Sorenson Spark codec, as it is much less computationally demanding to play back than either On2 VP6 or F4V video.

H.264
Support for H.264 video was incorporated into Flash Player beginning with version 9.0.r115. F4V video is a container format for the H.264 video codec, also referred to as MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Encoding). The H.264 video codec provides higher quality video at lower bitrates than the Sorenson Spark and On2 VP6 video codecs used by earlier version of Flash Player, however, it is more computationally demanding than either of these codecs.
In addition to the F4V container format, Flash Player 9.0.115.0 and later versions support files derived from the standard MPEG-4 container format. These files include MP4, M4A, MOV, MP4V, 3GP, and 3G2, if they contain H.264 video or HE-AAC v2 encoded audio, or both.
Note: If you need to use video with alpha channel support for compositing, use the On2 VP6 video codec; F4V does not support alpha video channels.

We can see that the F4V video is the new one that supported by Flash player and players like QuickTime. An F4V video is preferred as output as the extension could be changed into .flv and .mp4. Even though your visitor is in low bandwidth which influences the entertainment on watching the video, he can download directly to have better experience.

Here I recommend Flash Video MX Pro as a tool to get F4V video for online sharing and video download. You can then easily get your videos with watermark and prefer them to be shared among large audience.
